REMINDER – Working without an SIA licence is a criminal offence

We wish to remind all security operatives undertaking licensable activity, and those deploying them, that it remains a criminal offence to do so without an SIA licence.

The Government has announced a phased transition to a new regulatory regime. However, this will take some time to put into place. Until that time, the current law continues to apply.

The SIA and other agencies will continue to enforce these offences. The maximum penalty for working without a licence is six months imprisonment and/or a fine of £5,000. The maximum penalty for deploying unlicensed staff is five years imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.

• New Courses: Basic Weapons Recognition

Achieve Training Solutions are now licensed to deliver the basic weapons recognition course provided by PS5 Ltd and Skills for Security. This course is aimed at delivering training to the cash and valuables in transit, security guarding, door supervision, community warden, event stewarding and associated sub sectors. It is also highly relevant to other professions such as teaching, retail management and policing.

This is a one day course that is essential to anyone working in the security and allied industries enabling them to recognise a variety of weapons and how they are concealed.
In the context of disguised weapons this course can only provide an insight into the vast array of weaponry that is out there. However, the course will teach you to ‘think differently’

New Corporate Rate for SIA courses.

Achieve training utilising their roving trainer approval is now able to offer training at your own premises at a competitive rate of £500 per day for up to fifteen candidates on either the SIA Static and Patrol Guarding or Door Supervision course.

This equates to a tremendous saving on your training costs with full Basic Job Training and communication and conflict management costing less than £135 per person. Examinations fees are not included in this price.

'The Worlds First Accredited Course'
This is the only security industry recognised course in weapon recognition and concealment. This qualification is accredited by both the National Open College Network and Skills For Security Basic Weapons Recognition and Concealment ‘Personal and Public Safety’

The purpose of this training course is to introduce a basic an understanding of
weapon recognition and concealment for security personnel, health workers, people working in education and also anyone whose role might bring them into contact with the public on a daily basis.

The main function of the course is to promote safety and to prevent injury and loss of life by getting individuals to ‘think differently’ about weapons. The carrying of concealed weapons has become an issue of considerable concern over recent years and the proliferation of weapons in our towns and cities now poses a significant threat to people whose occupation or lifestyles may bring them into possible contact on a daily basis.
The course will heighten individuals awareness to items which could be disguised, modified, improved, homemade or made creating a serious, if not deadly threat to anyone who encounters them. It will help the individual to understand the main types of weapon , how they are made and concealed and how that in the right hands and with little imagination almost anything can be used.
